I am Vernon Montrell, founder of Aerial RC Academy, a community-focused aviation education organization built to help students, families, educators, and RC enthusiasts discover aviation through hands-on learning, mentorship, and RC flight experiences. I believe learning becomes more meaningful when people actively participate, build skills through experience, and gain confidence through practical application.
Aerial RC Academy started from a simple goal — helping one young person who needed guidance during a difficult time. Through RC aviation, I saw firsthand how learning to fly could build focus, confidence, problem-solving skills, and positive direction. One student became several, then expanded into schools, youth groups, universities, and community programs across the Southern United States.
My mission is to create opportunities where aviation education encourages growth, critical thinking, technical understanding, and real-world learning. Through RC flight education, STEAM instruction, and hands-on experiences, I work to help students discover new skills while creating an environment where learning remains engaging, rewarding, and practical.
As the founder of a Veteran-owned organization, I continue building Aerial RC Academy around mentorship, education, aviation knowledge, and helping others discover just how far learning can take them — one flight at a time.
Students build, inspect, and fly RC aircraft, turning science and engineering ideas into real muscle-memory experiences.
FAA TRUST awareness, AMA safety guidance, and buddy-box instruction keep early flights safe and confidence growing.
Simulation trailers, airshow demos, and school visits actively unite families, educators, and hobbyists around RC flight.
